We, the GD Educational Foundation, are a family with an earnest interest in helping local students succeed through education. Tirunelveli is a town slowly evolving into a city, as it engulfs the gorgeous paddy fields that are synonymous with the name of the town itself. As in any transforming town, poverty is on the rise and the poor are uncared for. The Tirunelveli natives who once traditionally survived by taking care of their lands and crops now resort to menial labor, while the city pours its funds into textile store businesses and jewelry shops. Wandering cows on the crossroads and highways is common sight as the cattle have no pasture to graze except to walk aimlessly and to lie, on the busy roads. Peacocks search for an abode as their natural habitats shrink to give way to concrete menaces. All the international car brands are opening their flagship stores all through Tirunelveli and the poor are burdened with monthly EMIs to cram the town while riding their motorcycles.

At this cultural and economic flashpoint, we at the Grace Devasigamani Educational Foundation arrived at the simple gesture of helping the school students of Tirunelveli who are struggling financially. Despite its many changes, Palayamkottai remains a town filled with schools and colleges that still provide quality education to the underprivileged. Most of Tirunelveli’s student community hails from the surrounding villages. We at the GD Educational Foundation, in the memory of two valuable teachers who served these students for many decades, stretch out to help them realize their dream.
